Sonora, in northwest Mexico, offers the hunters one of the finest wing shoots that can be found in the county. The game here is plentiful, mourning dove, white wing doves and red billed pigeon.
Our guests stay in a very nice hotel in Hermosillo and eat at the finest restaurants in town where they have a wide choice of Mexican and international restaurants cuisine and every one’s favorite Sonora beef.
Generally shooters rise at 5:00. Have an
American style breakfast and head to corn and sorghum fields, orange and pecan groves and vineyards. Driving time to the shooting fields can range from 15 to 45 minutes, upon arrival at the field, a bird boy is assigned and a shooting line formed.
Soon the cannonade starts and it keeps unremittingly for 2 to 3 hours. The query are mostly mourning and white wing doves, occasionally the opportunity to shoot the red pigeon presents itself.
Luncheon is a supremely pleasurable affair. We arrange a cookout under the shade of trees of a nearby hacienda, our guests enjoy big bowls of guacamole, tender barbecue steak, wash it all down with lots of ice cold Tecate beer. A siesta is in order to relax for a while and enjoy the afternoon shoot, which starts around 3:00 p.m. and end at sunset.
At night in Hermosillo, we close the day with a super dinner at the best restaurants in town. Note: half day shoot either day of arrival or day of departure, depending on the arrival time.
